GRAPHICS

This motion graphic is a mini trailer for one of my favorite books Love & Gelato by Jenna Evans Welch.

My role: Design the assets for this motion graphic in Illustrator and bring them over in After Effects to animate them.

Creative Process: This was one of my first times using After Effects, I found it quite challenging at first but then I learned the basics very quickly and soon I could fluently edit and animate my assets. I drew out my ideas on paper and the scenes that I wanted so that I had something to go off of for designing in Illustrator.

Creative Problem & Solution: When I was creating the scene of the Ponte Vecchio in Florence, Italy (the scene of the bridge), it was very hard and extremely time-consuming to get all the little details done. Creating the roof tile and the grass was the hardest part, however, when I finally saw the scene coming together I knew it was worth it to keep going and adding more detail because even though the detail isn't very visible it looks more realistic.
